🚨 WARNING: You might get seriously addicted to this spot!
Say hello to the ultimate Middle Eastern street food experience right on the corner of Boat Avenue, Phuket! 🏝️🔥 From crispy chicken crunch wraps to juicy beef shawarmas and mouthwatering kebabs, every bite is a flavor explosion.
It was a chance encounter to met Yan and his general manager Timor. My friend and I were sitting in a nearby restaurant on Boat Avenue and we started talking to these young gentlemen, unknowingly they own Mangal, a Middle Eastern street food place just around the corner.
One thing led to another and we ended up at Mangal Boat Avenue the very next day, eating the most delicious Middle Eastern street food on this side of the island.

The next day, we had been invited to try out the food here and we were absolutely WOW’ed! We were welcomed into Mangal Boat Avenue with such a nice warm, pleasant, friendly greeting! They opened the door and we saw smiling faces of Timor and Yan. We sat at the table where there was good lighting, so I could take some awesome pictures of their amazingly colourful food and my friend Jill and I were ready to dig in!
One of the first thing we were introduced to was their salad bar, not only it was a salad bar of Middle Eastern style, but a lot of amazing homemade pickles, pickled cabbage, pickled cucumbers, pickled peppers, and an incredible eggplant salad. This salad bar is unlimited.
As you can see from the photos, the food is fresh. It’s crispy and it’s a colourful delight for the senses.

Once we entered Mangal, Timor showed us digital menu. To demonstrate, he gave us a tutorial on how to order. It was very simple and take a few moments as the menu is pretty straight forward. All you need to do is, press submit once you have chosen all your sides along wit he main dish. Then the order goes straight to the kitchen and they start making everything fresh.
Timor ordered us the Beef Shawarma , Chicken Shawarma, the Chicken Crunch and a vegetarian option as my friend is veg only! The shawarma’s are packed solid with meat and such tasty veggies inside you almost cannot stop eating it! I was so full and yet I kept going because the flavours are so enticing and addictive! The pickles and the sauces, it’s just an incredible explosion of flavours in your mouth! In conclusion, my taste buds were dancing of joy!

Ok there first photo here is the Chicken Crunch, do you wanna know why? Well let me explain, the bread on the outside is crunchy on the inside. It’s pillowy soft. The flavours of the chicken stuffed so hearty in there, and drizzled with tahini and the ambar sauce …… wow!
In the middle photo is the vegetarian option which they do not have on the menu however they made it special for my friend and she said it was delightful. It was exactly what she wanted. All the fresh veggies all the delicious flavours that she absolutely loves and adores and the colours of the food ….outstanding! However, Mangal isn’t a vegetarian restaurant, as they want to be known for their grilled Shawarma’s and kebabs. We did make a suggestion and they might add that onto the menu, but we’ll leave that as a surprise. Hint, it’s vegetarian option. (Made my friend happy)
The last but not least photo was a Beef Kebab roll. This sandwich was so satisfying. The kebab roll was so unbelievably big and the beef was done just right.
Make sure you follow FauZia on our YouTube channel so you can see the videos that we have taken of this restaurant while they’re shaving the meat for your sandwich.

✔️ All made in-house for the freshest taste
✔️ Fries so crispy, they’ll have you saying 😱 “how do they do it!?”
Once again, I have tried hummus in so many different places, and this one was so creamy. The homemade bread is also spectacular as they somehow crisp it on the outside and keep it chewy in the inside. Real talent of this chef to prepare it like this. I was eating it by dipping it in the hummus, and also the tahini which I cannot boast about more because it’s the best!
I wanted to just put that the salads at the salad bar are unlimited and free. We had a beef shawarma as well and I couldn’t even muster enough courage to take a bite to finish it cause it was so massive. I did take it home ended up sharing it with my friend who I stay with when I come to Phuket and he absolutely loved it.

On a side note, I do have to mention that the fries come out hot crispy, and soft like mashed potato, on the inside! I was dipping the fries it in that special sauce that they have called Ambar. It is super tasty. Ambar, has a slight Indian curry sort of flavor, but with lots of citrus and it’s very delicious when you dip your fries in there. And of course, when you put dribbles of it on your sandwich, also adds a nice citrusy punch.
I want to thank Yan and Timor and the staff for such an incredible culinary journey into the world of middle eastern street food. What a delightful treat to try all the delicious flavours! Make sure when you are in the area, to pop in and grab a shawarma or kebab roll along with the side salads! You won’t regret it!
