Sips and Bites: A Tale of Tapas and Vino Delight

by Fauzia

Welcome to Tapas Vino, a fine dining Spanish tapas style dining located conveniently in the heart of Sukhumvit. Just a few meters off the BTS Asoke and Sukhmvit MRT stations, a short distance walk to the Pullman Grande Sukuhmvit, you can find this little gem on the 2nd floor of this hotel!

Eating perfectly prepared seafood paella, Spanish tapas, and garlic prawns can’t be beat. Visitors can have wonderful white wine, Sangria, or Spanish wine here. Start your lunch with a delicious cup of tea.

Prawns in Sauce

When the head server came to us and highly recommend this dish, I am so glad he did! Big juicy shrimp, swimming in tasty olive oil and garlic sauce. The taste of this was superb! My friend and I were literally fighting on who will licking the bowl clean! I would very highly recommend this dish! This dish had the perfect kick to it and the sauce, was even better when the bread was dipped in it.

The wine we chose was a Malbec (foursome reason, having a forgetful moment of the name of the wine)! The powerful notes of the wine and the prawns sauce was extremely complimentary! Thank you Tapas Vino for the splendid wine suggestion.

Trio Croquetas

Trio Croquetas only here at Tapas Vino Bangkok, and they were cheesy and delicious. I preferred the texture when they got a little bit more cool and the taste seemed to settled in a bit with my tastebuds. They are quite much and soft on the inside with a light delicate crunch on the outside.

Definitely can be dipped in a hot sauce to extra punch of flavour! Additionally, Croquettes were created as an attempt to prevent food wastage, particularly meat. These scraps are combined with bechamel sauce and deep-fried to a golden brown perfection as a way to use up leftover meat or vegetables. It’s a fantastic approach to guarantee that none of the food in the fridge is wasted! In any event, these are well prepared!

Arugula Salad with Nuts

Somehow, not sure why but I absolutely love the taste of arugula. Grown and used since ancient Roman times, arugula was first used as a medicinal herb and aphrodisiac. The leafy green is now popular in Italian cuisine and is grown and eaten around the world. The leaves tend to be deep green in color with deep notches up and down both sides. Furthermore, I love the peppery flavor, as it pairs nicely with other strong flavors like salty cheeses, bright citrus, and more. It’s also used to top cooked pizzas or whirled into pesto. The greens can also be sautéed for a mild side dish or added to soups, pasta, and other dishes. Moreover, I have often only ever eaten this as a salad or on pizza! Either way, it’s lovely!

Seafood Paella

Ahhhhh … the classic Spanish dish of paella at Tapas Vino! How can one go to a Spanish restaurant and not get the perfect seafood paella to boot! What’s more, the seafood paella is very hearty and piquant. The succulent mussels, prawns and bits of squid was right right amount. The ambiance, the wine, the smell of the paella was all too reminiscent of my time in South of France when I crossed over into the Spain side!

My friend and I drove to the nearest tapas restaurant & bar! Parked the convertible and relaxed to the music and our first glass of Spanish vino! We were quite inebriated in the whole culture and the drive from France, but not with alcohol, haha! We just were taking in the entire experience and were drunk with being in love with the oceanside of Pay Basque and not Bilbao. Luckily he had a convertible Mercedes so we were able to really take in the smells of the ocean and rays of sunshine.

OKAY …. back to reality ….now shifted back to Bangkok!

Cheesecake with Chocolate sauce

I have not had a proper cheesecake, like a proper NYC style cheesecake and here at Tapas Vino, was a close second. I love the chocolate anything really but this sauce was divine on top of the cheesecake. The perfect touch to end our delicious experience this evening! Romie had the Crema Catalana  (in the photo below .. similar to creme caramel)!

Thank you to Khun Jamie and his wonderful team who took care of us and the generous hospitality of Khan Ricardo plus the Tapas Vino team as well! I will definitely be back to try more of what’s I on the menu soon!

With love and gratitude,
