Sail Away to Splendor: Embark on an Epic Ha Long Bay Adventure!

by fauzia

Well.. what can I say about Ha Long Bay? My friend and I walked all over Hanoi, Vietnam, and stopped into many different tour operators selling the same cruises, but of course, the 3-star to the 5-star had various ranges! So I decided to book online and save my weary sore feet from further agony!

Ha Long Bay’s charm lies in its rugged, yet picturesque terrain. As you set sail on your cruise, the towering limestone formations emerge, adorned with lush greenery that paints a surreal picture. The bay’s allure is such that it has earned recognition as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and for good reason

Serenity Amidst the Bustle: A Haven for Peace

While Vietnam’s bustling cities exude energy, Ha Long Bay offers a complete contrast – a tranquil sanctuary to rejuvenate the soul. Imagine the calming lap of gentle waves against your cruise ship, while you gaze upon the sunrise or sunset painting the sky with hues that feel like they’re from another world. The stillness of the bay creates an atmosphere of meditation and reflection, allowing you to fully appreciate the wonder of nature.

Inga and I spent the 2 days together so well! We as friends travel well together except for her AC requirement when we share a hotel room!

Kayaking at the Bay

Embracing the Weather: The Best Time to Set Sail

The weather in Ha Long Bay plays a crucial role in enhancing the cruise experience. The best time to visit is during the autumn months of September to November when the skies are clear, the sun is gentle, and the air is crisp. The humidity subsides, and temperatures are comfortable, making it ideal for both exploring the bay’s beauty and indulging in water activities. Imagine kayaking through serene waters, surrounded by a gentle breeze and the warm embrace of the sun.

It was the funniest thing! After we finished our kayaking, in order for me to get out of the kayak I didn’t want to stand up in case we did head first in the Bay ….. I nonchalantly rolled out on the step from the kayak without standing up first, while my friend Inga laughed her head off! She said that was the funniest thing she had ever seen! It was quite hilarious I must add!

Love this pano photo shot from the top of the deck of the luxury liner and this was around 6:30 a.m. after we did our tai chi which began at 5:45 a.m.! Wow .. what a spectacular view. We purchased our Ha Long Bay tickets online and it was the best thing as we took our time to do it.

Culinary Delights at Sea: A Feast for the Senses

Ah, the food! The cruise not only indulges your eyes but your taste buds as well. Picture this: a spread of Vietnamese delicacies that celebrate the region’s rich flavors. Fresh seafood, fragrant herbs, and a burst of vibrant colors come together on your plate, offering a culinary journey of its own.

And guess what? We had a chance to unleash our inner Vietnamese chefs during a spring roll-making class. Roll, stuff, and savor – the class was as informative as it was entertaining. Trust me, rolling those spring rolls was like crafting edible art!

One of the coolest things I experienced was what I called “mini-marts” on a boat selling junk food to alcohol in case the prices on the ship were too expensive. What a great idea in case you forget your bottles of alcohol as I ended up buying beers for our mini fridge and also bought drinks from the cruise ship as well.
